He Talks

He Talks

(1)

He talks
He talks
He talks
He talks

...with a black cape
A video on his back
And, night thoughts
Indestructible...no rhyme, he just talks

Notes

1. This was performed twice in 1984, both times in the Netherlands. There are more lyrics than the ones I have transcribed above, and I'm not sure of the accuracy of the ones I do have. Martin has transcribed a few more:

I've had a go at trying to understand the lyrics of this track as played on its two outings. Caveat: I'm not very good at this. I won't bother to put (?) after everything that either isn't clear or that I'm not sure about as just about most of it deserves a (?). Also, I've omitted various "He talks".

31 March 1984: "Dear...and the strutteral comic...on his beach he just speaks, on his beach he just speaks...The Fall...as your tidings, horror lies in trap with a black cape, video on his back..."

1 April 1984: "...he talks...with...incredible...he just speaks...at your tidings...comes a horror...on a mare he came riding, video pack on his back..."

Now over to the real experts...

Oh, and why isn't this song included in Dannyno's "Flickering Lexicon"?

The only interesting thing about "He Talks" is that the chord sequence is the same as "Draygo's Guilt". Having been dropped in '81, "DG" arrived back in the live set less than two weeks after "He Talks" was dropped. So was "He Talks" an attempt to recycle the riff from "Draygo"? Did it just remind them that "DG" existed? Or is it a coincidence?
